Synopsis

The first morning of the workshop was a gentle introduction to mythic hygiene, without the added complications of profoundly altered consciousness. We were encouraged to re-envision childhood memories. I thought of Marvin Gardens and the Watergate hearings, and recalled a long, summer night walk with Scott, talking about girls and looking for UFOs.

But my mind kept returning to my birthdays, and Mom and I watching The Ten Commandments – our annual ritual. Each time, she would emphasise that Cecil B. DeMille changed the story, as if this was of particular importance. 

We were asked to capture these “scenarios” and told that they revealed clues about our implicit myths – our thoughts, beliefs and emotions that shape experience and decision making. We discussed our reflections with our Masters of Scenarios – this was how we trained them.
